If you need to express yourself in professional-quality English—if you want your creative manuscripts, academic papers, web content, marketing materials, or proposals to be perfect—contact me and I will help you find a way to make your work reflect the thought you have put into it. My technical compositions and metatext, promotional materials and ad copy, poetry, movie reviews, and festival reports have appeared in publications including The Village Voice, The Jerusalem Post, Verse, and Fence, and on numerous websites including 39º north. I have also edited and proofread books and articles published by the Harvard University Press, the Indiana University Press, and The Village Voice.
I have composed English versions of texts originally written in Hungarian, Romanian, German, Yiddish, Hebrew, and other languages, for publishers, academics, rare-book dealers, and publicity firms including the Indiana University Press, the Hungarian Historical Review, and Glenn Horowitz Bookseller. I also offer consultation on translations from other Biblical and Semitic languages (including Arabic, Aramaic, and Greek), other Romance languages (including French, Italian, and Spanish), and Slavic languages such as Russian and Slovakian.
I have taught literature, language, composition, and creative writing at institutions including the University of Iowa and Indiana University, as well as to private-workshop clients. I have also helped academics and businesspeople plan projects, prepare proposals, and launch marketing campaigns from Bloomington and Chicago to Transylvania and Tel Aviv.
My qualifications include a high-honors degree in English and American Language and Literature from Harvard College, master's degrees from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop and the Russian and East European Institute at Indiana University, and a perfect score on the verbal section of the GRE.
